International Women's Day

March 12th 2020

Hi there Caddyshackers

A hands up and a high 5 to the women among us. To the mothers, the daughters, the sisters, the aunts, the grandmothers, the cousins and the friends. This blog is for you.

#IWD2020

March 8th was International Women’s Day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. This year the global UN theme is “Generation Equality”. So get hashtagging #GenerationEquality #IWD2020

The Generation Equality campaign is bringing together people of every gender, age, ethnicity, race, religion and country, to drive actions that will create the gender-equal world we all deserve.

Caddyshack Project will be supporting International Women’s Day by attending the Shoalhaven Women’s Wellness Festival on Thursday 19th March 12pm - 7pm at the Nowra Showground Pavilion.

You will find us there demonstrating the use of the female or internal condom which was a huge hit last year, gaining lots of interest and attention.

What can we do on IWD2020?

It is a time to check in with the wonderful women in our lives.

  1. Ask how they are doing

  2. Ask if they have had a women’s health check recently - cervical screen and breast check

  3. Ask when was the last time they did something nice for themselves. Do you know how much a 15 minute break can mean to a busy woman!

National Day of Women Living with HIV

Whilst we celebrate the super women in our lives, at Caddyshack Project we will celebrate some of the super women we work with who are HIV positive.

March 9th marks the National Day of Women Living with HIV.  A day for HIV positive women to host other women for the day, connecting, celebrating, sharing, educating and most importantly empowering. The motto for the day is:

“Celebrate. Advocate. Inspire. Empower.”

In 2017 there were around 3,000 HIV positive women living in Australia, this makes up 10% of the total HIV positive population.

Please consider “could it be HIV”?

You can test for HIV by visiting your Doctor, ordering an Australian TGA approved HIV test online or ordering the free NSW HIV test.
