Drag is a Performance, Trans is an Identity with Cherry-Ripe, Roxee Horror & Lawrence of Australia

Join us as we host Cherry-Ripe, Roxee Horror and Lawrence of Australia, three drag stars and advocates for LGBTQIA+ communities.

Cherry Ripe is Wollongong's sweet little secret. She's where punk rock scum meets red carpet glamour. When she’s not violently thrashing her head around or smacking her lips to the beat of her lip-sync she can be found drinking goon and scabbing cigarettes at Wollongong train station. Cherry has gained lots of experience since her debut Drag performance at the ripe age of 14, and has performed all over the East Coast of Australia and worked with organisations like Minus18, Wear it Purple, Twenty10 and Jackaranda says NO to Bullying. Cherry has also produced her own events and assisted in producing larger community events.

Look up in the sky, It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s Roxee Horror!! Roxee has been making waves in Wollongong since 2017!! You have read about her in the papers, you have seen her Drag Storytime, you probably watched her slay in one of her stage productions. She is spooky. She is ooky! And she is ready to take you all on a strange journey.

Lawrence is a real Southern Beau - South Coast, that is. He has worked prolifically for 6 years in the drag king scene, has a passion for politics and history, and spends most nights curled up to a nice journal article. Women love him, fish fear him, he's Lawrence of Australia!

This all-star cast will share their experiences with Winnie and Maddy diving into consent when performing, and the impact of local drag culture and its intersection with trans allyship and sexual identities.
