Pelvic Pain affects 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men at some time in their life – yet it’s a condition that is rarely discussed. As most types of pelvic pain can’t be diagnosed with blood tests or scans, it’s easy for women and men with this problem to suffer pain for years before finding the help they need. The Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia is a not-for-profit organisation formed to build a healthier and more productive community by improving the quality of life of people with pelvic pain. We realise that pelvic pain affects a large number of girls, women and men of all ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds. We aim to minimise the suffering and burden of pelvic pain on individuals, their families and the community through awareness, education, funding, support and research. This website provides information for those affected by pelvic pain, their families and their health care providers, regardless of income, location or access to services.

Campaign
Comfortable in my skin is a movement towards empowering people to love the skin they’re in. With Labiaplasty being the fastest growing cosmetic surgery in the world, statistics show a HUGE number of vulva owners are worried that they do not look “normal” downstairs. I believe this is due to a lack of education about vulva diversity. I hope to help fill the gap in sex education that I believe is missing. Done shame the portal from which you came.
Key Event
The National Centre for Childhood Grief (NCCG) provides, through its programs, a safe environment where bereaved children and their families can be encouraged to share their experiences. This process enables bereaved children to learn how to integrate grief into their everyday lives. The NCCG has developed and uses an internationally recognised therapeutic model and applies this model in ways that meet the needs of individual children and the group. Access to our services is self-referral by calling 1300 654-556.

Out & About
A Happy Box is a collection of toiletries and beauty products put together with care, and sent to an Indigenous woman in a remote community. It may include essential items such as shampoo, soap, deodorant, pads, tampons, and toothpaste or luxury self-care items such as nail polish, make up, perfume, candles, and hair accessories. Women in our own backyard are going without basic toiletries. Accessibility to simple items like deodorant, shampoo and soap prove challenging when the closest store can be up to 1000km away. Some communities are at the end of 750km of harsh, red dirt roads. Others can be cut off by flood waters for months at a time. Some are only accessible via boat or plane. Some communities may be lucky enough to have a small store, but the prices of basic items are exuberant.
