Useful Fact

Providing trauma-informed care: A case study of Weave Youth and Community Services.

Weave is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a way up and a way forward for children, young people, women, families and communities facing complex social situations.

Weave’s origins date back to 1976, when a group of local Aboriginal women in Redfern/ Waterloo advocated for services, activities and support for local young people. We are grateful to those strong, passionate women. Today, our diverse range of programs and services support children, young people, women, families and communities, many of whom have been impacted by systemic disadvantage and intergenerational trauma.

Has your data been breached?

Troy Hunt created have I been pawned (HIBP) as a free resource for anyone to quickly assess if they may have been put at risk due to an online account of theirs having been compromised or "pwned" in a data breach.

He wanted to keep the site dead simple to use and entirely free so that it could be of maximum benefit to the community.

Find out if your email or phone number has been breached and what to do about it through this free website: Have I Been Pwned.

Campaign

We believe…

Periods are not dirty, gross or something to be ashamed of.

You should be able to learn about your body and menstrual cycle before your first period.

Everyone should learn about periods (even people who don’t have them).

We should all be aware of what our “normal” is and feel empowered to go to a medical professional if things are different.

We should be given comprehensive information of all our contraceptive options.

We should be treated with respect and listened to if we go to a medical professional with a problem.

Everyone deserves access to menstrual products when they need them.

Key Event

The Mission Australia Youth Survey is the largest annual survey of young people in Australia. Now in its 21st year, the Youth Survey continues to provide a platform for young people aged 15 to 19 to share their experiences, concerns and aspirations.

The results of the Youth Survey are shared with governments, non-government organisations, schools and social commentators to inform the debate around the circumstances of young people in Australia and to support the development of policies, services and programs that have the needs of young people at their core.
