Play Safe

October 8th 2020

Hi There Caddyshackers,

How is it possibly October already?!

We hope you have enjoyed the first month of spring and all the pretty flowers it has offered us.

We have been busy here at Caddyshack, delivering online training and preparing our training schedule for 2021. Thanks to all of our partners out there who recently completed our training needs survey. We look forward to delivering up more informative, engaging and fun training in 2021.

Play Safe NSW

As part of all our training sessions, we promote the Play Safe website. We haven’t touched on Play Safe as part of our blog for a while, so we thought we would give it some airtime and the kudos it deserves.

Play Safe is the NSW Health sexual health website. Whilst it is a government site, it is far from dull or boring (did we write that out loud! Yee!).

Play Safe aims to be a sex positive space, in which young people aged 16-29, can find the information and support they need around all things sexual health.

Let’s take a virtual tour of the Play Safe NSW website and our fav features! Join us!

Play Safe cool features

Let’s take a tour of some of our favourite features on the Play Safe website.

Nurse Nettie

She is a nurse on the net, knows her stuff and has heard it all before! When you message Nurse Nettie, you can be assured you are doing so with confidentiality. She is a fully qualified sexual health nurse (or nurses actually from the Sexual Health Info Link) and she will get back to you with any questions, usually within a 24 hr period. Maybe a little longer if you ask on the weekend.

Could I have an STI?

I am not sure, could you? Best way to find out is to take the quick quiz and see if any sexual practices, activities or behaviours have put you at risk of contracting an STI.

Spoiler alert!

Basically, if you have ever engaged in a sexual act it will recommend you have an STI check-up. Some STIs show no signs or symptoms, so the only way to truly know if you have an STI is to have a check-up.

Remember, the check ups are as simple as a pee in a cup, with the occasional blood test or swab thrown into the mix.

Take Blaktion

A deadly section of the website targeted towards Aboriginal Young People but sooooo worth a visit for everyone as it’s great!

Lots of comedy skits can be found here. Whilst sexual health is a serious matter, why not have some fun and laughs while we are talking about it

Where can I get tested?

A map feature which will help direct you to your nearest publically funded sexual health clinic, or will provide with some options around accessing Dcotors, Aboriginal Medical Services or Youth Health clinics

The page is jam packed (in a good way) with resources, information, blogs and a community forum monitored by young people, so jump on and get empowered around your sexual health.

Down To Test

If you are like us and missing festivals, you can check out the photos of all the festivals that Down To Test went to.

Are you in the photos? Were you there? Did you VIPee? Have a look and reminisce. Sigh.

What We Are Loving Right Now

Right now we are loving Yumi Stynes ABC podcast “Ladies We Need To Talk”

Check out this one on the clitoris. Not just for the owner’s of the clitoris, but for anyone who comes close to a clitoris. This button has a purpose, learn how to push it.

Until next time
